Found an interesting stat on T.Y. Hilton as I read through a story on FIU's all-time leading receiver and the Indianapolis Colts rookie. CLICK HERE for the story on T.Y. by George Bremer of the Anderson Indiana Herald Bulletin.
Twelve receivers were drafted ahead of T.Y. in the 2012 NFL Draft. Those 12 receivers have combined for 0 -- yes, zero -- 100-yard receiving games this season. Meanwhile, T.Y. has two, 100-yard receiving games this season. The move by Colts general manager Ryan Grigson to trade up to get T.Y. in the third round of the draft is looking more and more like a steal with each passing week.
You can watch T.Y. tonight when the Colts visit Jacksonville at 8 p.m. on the NFL Network.
SCOUT BOWL
Thursday morning the Panthers held their final practice of the bye week with scouts from the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars in attendance. FIU will take a couple of days off before beginning preparations for Florida Atlantic and Don Shula Bowl XI on Sunday.
Near the end of practice Thursday, the Panthers held their annual Scout Bowl where some of the younger players on the team went against each other. Offense versus defense.
Some of the highlights from the Scout Bowl:
On the first play of the scrimmage, freshman quarterback Favian Upshaw threw a lateral pass to receiver/former high school quarterback Richard Burrows who hit freshman receiver Adrian Jenkins in stride for a 70-yard touchdown pass.
Freshman defensive lineman Michael Wakefield sacked Upshaw.
Running back Lamarq Caldwell, who has played sparingly this season, had a strong 8-yard run where he barreled over a linebacker.
Receiver Raymond Jackson made a nice catch on a pass from Upshaw for 13 yards.
Denzell Perine sacked Upshaw and forced a fumble.
Upshaw appeared to be sacked on another play, but escaped for a 23-yard run.
