FIU safety and the program's all-time leading tackler Johnathan Cyprien has been turning heads at Senior Bowl practice this week with his physical play, which comes as no surprise because we've seen Cyprien play this way for the past four years.
Cyprien is ranked as the No. 7 safety in the 2013 NFL Draft and might be moving up if this week of practice at the Senior Bowl in Alabama is any indication.
Cyprien has been on the NFL's radar since his junior season. When FIU went to play at Middle Tennessee in 2011 an AFC scout described Cyprien to me as a "tackling machine that has big upside". Recently, MiamiDolphins.com did a story on Cyprien at the Senior Bowl. Cyprien spoke highly of FIU, T.Y. Hilton and the Dolphins in the story. The Dolphins sure could use a safety like Cyprien.
