The FIU baseball team off to a 6-1 start opens a two-game series with Texas Tech this evening at the FIU ballpark. First pitch is at 6 p.m. and Tuesday's first pitch is a special matinee time of 3 p.m. This is the first-ever meeting between FIU and Texas Tech.
The Panthers have swept back-to-back home series against Stony Brook and Manhattan. However, this week the competition ramps up with the Red Raiders (4-3) followed by No. 8 Ole Miss (7-0) coming to Miami for a three-game weekend series starting Friday.
Texas Tech started 4-0, but lost three straight games at the UCF Tournament over the weekend. The Red Raiders lost to Troy, Central Florida and UConn.
Left-hander Ty Sullivan (1-1, 1.00 ERA) gets the start for FIU tonight. Right-hander Matt Withrow (1-0, 0.00 ERA) pitches for TT.
