Sports Illustrated was in Miami the last three days working on a story and shooting a video on FIU's all-time leading receiver and Indianapolis Colt T.Y. Hilton. The story is scheduled to appear in the July 29 issue of SI. The video will air on SI.com that same day.
Sports Illustrated spent the day on Wednesday at FIU Stadium interviewing Hilton and later had Hilton catch passes on the FIU Stadium field. Hilton's story in SI is the first of an SI series on "Rising Stars" in the NFL, Major League Baseball, NBA, etc.
Among the subjects touched on in the video were T.Y.'s FIU career, his family, his promise to coach Mario Cristobal about scoring a touchdown the first time he touched the ball in college (at Kansas in 2008), rookie season with the Colts and life in Indianapolis, and the nickname "T.Y. Goodbye" bestowed on him by FIU fans. In the video interview, Hilton acknowledged the FIU fans giving him the nickname and then T.Y. did what he does after each touchdown -- making a "T", a "Y" with his arms and waving good-bye.
