FIU defensive tackle Isame Faciane spent part of his off day from the football field cooking jambalaya for an upcoming story and video on his cooking prowess. The story and video should run at some point next week on the FIU News website.
Faciane, who is from Slidell, Louisiana, used the kitchen in the on-campus Reagan Presidential House to cook one of his favorite Cajun dishes. Faciane learned to cook from his grandmother back home in Louisiana. Today on the Faciane menu was a chicken, shrimp and sausage jambalaya along with what he calls the "holy trinity" of Cajun ingredients: red peppers, celery and onions. I had the chance to sample the dish and it was darn good.
